Sequencing & Data Formats
Sequencing platforms and read formats, and getting acquainted with raw NGS output.
A comprehensive 7-module hybrid training programme designed by BRIC · NIAB. Module I initiates the journey from raw sequencing data to population-level variant insight.
The WGS Analysis & Computational Biology Training Programme is a structured, 7-module hybrid curriculum spanning 2026–2027. Each module builds sequentially, taking researchers from the fundamentals of raw data to advanced population genomics.
Each stage builds directly on the last. By Day 5, you will have called variants on real datasets using three independent methods.
Sequencing platforms and read formats, and getting acquainted with raw NGS output.
Assessing and filtering read quality before any downstream analysis.
Mapping reads to a reference genome and interpreting SAM/BAM alignments.
Variant discovery following the GATK best-practices pipeline.
Variant discovery using Freebayes and samtools mpileup, and comparing callers.
An introduction to moving from individual variants to population-level structure.
Graduate students, faculty, and industry professionals working with, or entering, genomics and NGS data analysis.
Fee covers hands-on sessions, datasets & course material.
For offline attendees, food and room will be available on payment basis. For room bookings, contact rgh@niab.org.in.
